Paack is the first development partner of Volta Trucks in Spain, one of the most disruptive companies in the development and manufacturing of fully electric commercial vehicles. Both companies have collaborated since 2021 with the aim of achieving the decarbonization of middle and last mile logistics.
Following its sustainability strategy, and with the focus on achieving carbon neutrality in the last mile in 2024, this past October, Paack completed the first phase of the Beta Program, with the testing of Volta Zero vehicle prototype. Volta Zero has a range of up to 200 km, a top speed of 90 km/h and a payload capacity of up to 8,000 kg. During this phase, the performance of these trucks has been monitored through an engineering program as a design validation process.
“We are delighted to announce the testing of our Volta Zero prototypes through the streets of Paris in cooperation with leading logistics companies, such as Paack, with whom we share the interest of working together to achieve the decarbonization of urban logistics. This is a preliminary step towards committing to truck delivery for our customers in the near future,” said Essa Al-Saleh, CEO of Volta Trucks.
Safety and sustainability
Two main aspects for both companies are, without a doubt, the sustainability and safety of the trucks. In this sense, Paack is collaborating in the development of the functionalities and characteristics of the Volta Zero vehicles. Designed from the ground up to be a fully electric vehicle, this truck features a cutting-edge design, influenced by its innovative electric powertrain. Thus, it has a radically different approach when it comes to the safety of pedestrians, drivers and vehicles. Indeed, Volta Zero has a cabin that provides 220-degree visibility to the driver, avoiding blind spots and reducing accidents with cyclists and other road users.
Next Steps: Testing in Real Conditions
Soon, we will be seeing the launch of a pilot program in which the vehicle will be tested under real conditions. This means that Volta Zero will transport loads and follow the routes used by Paack’s drivers during their regular deliveries. Once the test is validated, these trucks will be introduced into Paack’s middle and last mile network.

This project is part of Paack’s sustainability strategy, which aims to achieve a 30% reduction in emissions from the half mile in 2025 compared to 2020. Likewise, these actions are a very important step for Paack, which aims to achieve its goal of net zero carbon emissions at the organizational level by 2030.
